Mark Gardner

Volvo Ocean Race Service Manager / UK Custom Project and Service Manager

Base: Harken UK

Background: Mark is responsible for managing custom and Grand Prix projects for customers in the UK and worldwide. Most notably, Mark leads Harken’s international Tech Team at each of the Volvo Ocean Race stops to ensure gear is performing flawlessly.

Mark joined Harken UK in 2006.

Massimiliano Ronchetti (Max)

Technical Service

Base: Harken Italy

Background: Max provides technical service and support for superyacht and TP52 fleets during the international regatta season, and is an experienced America’s Cup and Volvo Ocean Race technician.

Max joined Harken Italy in 2005.

Craig Blazer

Technical Service

Base: Harken USA

Background: Craig has been an important player in Harken winch development and installation since the company acquired Barbarossa (now Harken Italy) in 1986. He has assisted engineers with winch and pedestal development for the America’s Cup since 1995, and has installed and serviced winches at Volvo Ocean Race stops since it was known as “The Whitbread.”

Craig joined Harken in 1978.

Neil Evans

Technical Service

Base: Harken USA

Background: Neil manages technical support and regatta service for the US. He oversees the in-house training of Harken distributors and dealers and also instructs in a number of Harken’s “Asked & Answered” technical videos. Neil has worked three editions of the Volvo Ocean Race with the international Tech Team.

Neil Joined Harken USA in 1997.

Callum Cecil

Technical Service / National Sales

Base: Harken Australia

Background: Callum manages projects for Grand Prix and TP52 accounts in Australia, and has worked on two editions of the Volvo Ocean Race with the international Tech Team. 

Callum joined Harken Australia in 2014.

Alun Hughes

Technical Service

Base: Harken UK

Background: Alun manages technical service for the UK, including onsite at all major regattas. He works directly with the Fast 40, Clipper 70, and Metre classes, as well as UK superyachts, on service and upgrades.

Alun joined Harken UK in 2008.

Pietro Schiaffonati

Technical Service

Base: Harken Italy

Background: Pietro manages technical service and support for Harken’s major OEM customers and regattas, including maxi yachts and TP52 accounts. He has worked two editions of the Volvo Ocean Race with the international Tech Team.

Pietro joined Harken Italy in 2011.
